I am travelling to Australia this Friday, and I will have 5 days for myself, then will have a week on business in Sydney. I thought I would not stay 5 days in Sydney but explore at least one more thing. A friend advised me to go to Great Barrier Reef even if it is for one day, but looking at the weather (around 25 celcius) I am not sure if it is a good idea. DO you agree? Would the weather be cold, and village empty? If yes, can I find somewhere relatively warm for swimming and the beach stuff at the time of this year, or if t here is no hope on the beach, where else should I go?
Many many thanks
August is a great time to go to the great barrier reef. The great barrier reef is a good 2 hours out to sea and you would have to do
a reef cruise with one of the many cruise companies. Cairns is a good place to base yourself as it has an airport served by Qantas and VirginBlue and Jetstar. August is a busy time in Cairns.
At this time of the year any in queensland is realy good and worth the trip.
But you could do something that isn't normally associated with Oz and go to the snowfields southern NSW and Victoria.
Anyhow cheap flights check these guys out
Enjoy your stay
Many thanks for very helpful advise. I indeed booked a flight and I am going to the Barrier Reef. )
