Hello - my boyfriend and i will be leaving in September and have a 12 month round the world ticket - we are goint accross all of South America, all accros New Zealand, Australia, all over most of South East Asia, and into Chine, Japan and India.

Can you recoment a good insurance company - with good health insurance, possesion cover, etc?

Thanks

hiya, my girlfriend and i are spending six months in south east asia and six months in india and nepal. we found insureandgo to be the best as they offer backpacker insurance with three different types of cover. they are very reasonably priced and cover everything. check them out at www.insureandgo.com

we got the bronze insurance, excluding usa and canada for 12 months and it cost £153 each! that was a lot less than anywhere else we looked, so i imagine that for your trip it will also be the cheapest cover around.

hope this helps, and you guys have a great trip!

joey :)

See elsewhere on the forum, but i use www.worldnomads.com, an Australian based internet company who are aimed entirely at the backpacker market and whilst i haven't had to use them myself, i've not heard a bad word against them anywhere.

I got mine with www.gotravelinsurance.com It was £150-something (forgot exactly) INCLUDING USA, and was by far the best deal I came across after quite a lot of searching.

World Nomads has been my pick the last 4 times I've taken out insurance.. I haven't had to make any claims, but the signing up procedure is very convenient. For a comparison of them and another budget insurance offered through Hostelworld click here
