Places to sleep in Shanghai

Hi, I'm going to Shanghai for a couple of days and I want to know any useful information about the best part of the city to sleep there,

I stayed in The Captain Hostel which was a very short walk from The Bund as well as Nanjing Dong Lu, the busy shopping street, so for shops, sights, restaurants and the metro it's pretty well located. Having said that however I should also say the staff were pretty incompetent and unfriendly, but you cant have everything !
