People are always giving out advice.

What bit of advice has someone told you that has proved to be useful in your life?

Different people told me to start my own business... that panned out so far :)

I can't really remember anyone ever giving me real advice like the type you see given in movies all the time...

The motto I have on my profile was good advice from I cant remeber who...to do one thing that scares you each day, it's made me way more confident!

and also to forget the bad things people say to you (unless its constructive) and remember the good!

My father always told me, "If you really want to do something - do it!! Only then will you know if it was the right thing for you. The coward is unwilling to move forward, but the one who is brave will take that leap of faith."

Some things have been right for me, others have not. But looking back, there are few, if any, things I would change.

Better do something what you will regret later than regret about not doing something... This is the advise which I received from my own life and which is always protested by all my advisers but for me it always works!

Just saw Isa's words... That was what I'm trying to tell

Mine is similar to Isa's:

"You only regret the things you never do".

I don't know who said it or when, but I try to always keep it in mind. I see so many people who use family/money/age/etc. as an excuse not to do things, and I don't ever, ever, ever want to turn into one of those people.

One of the things someone told me once had something to do with a situation I was in a looong time ago. I felt like I had no choices left and I didnt know what to do...after talking for awhile he said...

"Anne, you are in a bad situation but always remember that you will always get what you settle for..."

Now it isnt like this sentence is full of wisdom but somehow I have remembered this since that time...maybe it was one of those "moments" when he said it but it truly changed my perspective in a lot of things.

Too true Anne, too true. People say that "you get what you deserve". that's rubbish; you get what you'll put up with.
