Hello I am traveling to New Zealand for 16 days starting the 10th and wanted to know if I needed to buy a converter plug I am from the USA.

you can pick up elctronic converter plugs at most major airports and good camping/travel stores. Coming from the USA I would suggest you ensure that the converter you get is not only an adapter but also a voltage converter. USA currently runs on 110volts whilst Australia and NZ run on 220/240volts. Look carefully at the packaging if you want to avoid electrical items overheating or (worst case scenario) blowing up!

Cheers.

If you haven't already purchased one, "Target" sells a packet that consists of a voltage converter and plug adapters for every country/continent in the world for $19.99.

To answer your question: Yes, you do need a converter plug. ;)
