Hi everyone,

Does anyone have experience using this site to book a hotel?
http://www.travellerspoint.com/budget-hotels-nl.html
Is it reliable?

Thanks!

Yeah, I used it several times while down in Peru and Bolivia; worked like a charm. The only thing to keep in mind is that they only list hotels/hostels that have internet booking capabilities so in some cases I found better/different options after a night or two. It is nice to know that where you are going, you'll have a place to stay when you get there, if only for one night.

I used it for my trip to Spain and always landed on my feet! I'm not one for shameless promotion either I swear!!

It turned up some great places, I reckon the best way to use it is in conjunction with other sources like guide books and personal reccomendations!

Used it for our trip to Germany & Swizerland last year.
The (budget) hotels we stayed in exceeded my expectations.
I do recommend.

Thanks for your replies. One more question though. Did the prizes change...get higher..when you got to the hotel. Or did you really pay the prize they quote on the website. The reason why I ask this is because if I book the hotel i want through expedia.com, the prize is 30 dollars higher. I am just wondeirng how they can offer these hotels at such a low prize ;-)
Maybe I shouldnt think so much and just book the room huh? lol

I was looking for hostels in Venezuela recently but didn't find any!!! Does anybody know why? I was searching for a room in early September. Is it too soon? Or too far away in time? Or do you simply not represent hostels in Caracas for some reason? I don't get it.

Susanna - I just checked hostels and budget hotels for Caracas (using Sept. 8th as a date), through TP, and these 2 came up:
The Backpackers Hostel
Hotel Altamira

The system uses prices which are uploaded by the management of the property and the agreement they have with the agency we use is to offer the rooms at these prices once they are booked (in other words, they can't turn around and tell you it's a different price later on...).

Differences might occur with other booking systems for the same property, I've heard about it several times. In some cases the room types might be different, or they might be selling excess rooms at different prices on different sites, depending on the audience etc.

By the way, if you do a search using the budget accommodation link, it'll also return guesthouses, campsites, apartments and hostels on top of just the budget hotels. In some cases I prefer those :)

Oh, and I've used the system several times without problems :)
