actually they don't have beds and don't serve breakfasts - they are private booths with locks and a combination mini-safe.

A reclining chair with a footrest acts as a bed - blankets and showers are free.

I went to one of those internet cafes while I was there and thought to myself that these would indeed be pretty decent places to spend the night. It was certainly the nicest internet cafe I ever went to!

Quoting Telegraph

Tokyo fully deserves its reputation as the world's most expensive city

I entirely disagree. This is a myth, in my opinion, that doesn't serve travellers well at all. It is based on price measurements for expats, not travellers - I don't think the people running the surveys take into account the many easy ways of saving money in Tokyo. I found London and cities in Scandinavia to be much more expensive for a traveller. While it is quite easy to spend a LOT of money in Tokyo if you're not careful, it is also very easy to get by relatively cheaply. I couldn't say that for London/Scandinavia.

Everytime Japan comes up, the inevitable question is "isn't that expensive?". Why don't I ever hear that question when London comes up?

A British newspaper saying this about Tokyo is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black as far as I'm concerned.
