I've booked 3 nights in the Hostel Alessandro but have now found a few bad reviews. Has anyone stayed there? Is it OK or should I cancel and find somewhere else to stay?

Thanks
Sarah x

don't know if you've been there already but I just came back from there. I think there are 3 Alessandro hostels, I stayed at the Palace, it's not the best in terms of beds and that, but the staff is great and the place is only minutes from the metro, don't expect too much from the breakfast and the pizza parties have been cancelled in August. It should be ok for 3 nights.

Hi, i stayed at the downtown hostel in Rome a couple of months ago. Whilst not the best hostel i have ever stayed in, it certainly wasnt the worst. About a 10 minute walk or so to the train station and therefore metro stop, it has a supermarket just round the corner. I found that it was very noisy as the windows didnt seem to close. They had bunk beds but that is to be expected. Kitchen was very small for the number of people in the hostel but it was sufficient enough. breakfast was some bread and jam or cereal.

overall i thought it was ok. It wasnt dirty or anything and there were plenty of wash rooms and the showers were some of the best iv ever experienced in hostels. Dont think ull have any problems staying there - though be aware that the downtown uis currrently under going reservations - my friend was there a week ago, she booked a room, but when she turned up it was closed - they forgot to let u know obviously.

Hope this has helped.

Nicola

I stayed at Dream Hostel which was basic and kinda outdated....a bit over priced but it was in the termini area so there was good transport links and plenty to do around!!!!
