Hello All:
When is the best time to visit Eastern Europe to see the Autumn colors? Specifically I will be visiting Budapest, Prague and Vienna and would like to view the foliage change. Thanks!!

The best time to see autumn colours where I live (which is in the very south of Sweden) is from late September throughout October and sometimes there are still some nice colours left in November. Presumably, this will happen one or two weeks later in Prague. Add another week or two for Budapest and Vienna. I would say that October is a pretty good shot for all of Europe!

Hi Susanna:
Thank you so much for your reply! I realize that this is a bit of an unfair question since you're from Sweden but is October a rainy or dry month in Eastern Europe? I live in Colorado which is dry so much of the time I never think of the rain. Thanks again!!!

Hi Gary,

Agree with Susanna! October is definitely a good time to visit Europe. I visited Prague last October with my Mum and the colours were absolutely amazing!! Autumn is my favourite time of year so I was really blown away by them.

Sept and October are usually dry months throughout most of Europe.

In my opinion, you're going to be seeing Europe at possibly the best time of the year!

hey i agree too - autumn is the best time to travel east euro - nice weather, foliage, less tourists.

U should really try to see the Carpathians as well in October. Budapest is not far from Transylvania
