Here's my story and the story goes:
I'm 24 and taught high school english for 2 years before officially retiring my long and prosperous career due to the ambition of becoming a professor on the university level. So I applied to grad schools and won't start that nonesense until september which leaves a whole lotta time for some good hearty travelling, beer drinking, thinking, reading on the train, story telling, curing hangovers, meeting strangers in strange lands etc. So far, I bought a round trip ticket from NYC to London, arriving May 1st and departing July 7th. My good friend with whom I'd planned this trip for over a year punked out on me just recently, curse his soul, and so I'm all alone in my ambitions and from the looks of it, my travels as well. Which is where you come in.
I'm up for pretty much anything, but the merrier the better. And but so since making an itinerary is "the thing to do" here is my shoddy attempt at it:
For all of the following cities I budgeted anywhere between 3-7 days, depnding on how things be groovin'...
Krakow (I speak Polish so I'll prove semi-useful here)
Athens/Greek Isles (looking to get down on Homer's home turf)
I know this is mighty crowded, but it is what it is until the wind blows otherwise, which I'm sure she will. As far as transportation goes, I'm thining of getting a really cheap flight from London to Amsterdam, but afterwards, who knows, with the Eurail 15 day flexipass seeming like the #1 contender for now. Which is to say I wouldn't be opposed to renting and sharing a van with someone if that type of situation presented itself. And hostels will be the preferred choice of roof over the head, unless there as some travellers with tents in which I might find shelter from bears.
Other reasons you might want to travel with me: I'm totally laid back and won't be up in your grill when the last thing you want is someone up in your grill; i'll have with me over 17 days worth of music on my iPOd; and because making fun of George Bush is much more fun when you're not talking to yourself.
So whadda ya' say?
