I am organising a group of 8 to go to Rio for the 2006 Carnival. I was there this year but I am short of ideas on the carnival balls. Which are the best (and I obviously don’t mean the Copacabana Palace...)

No idea! When is it? February, right? I think we'll just miss it, unfortunately.

I´m definately going to be there for Carnival 2006. At the moment Im in Uruguay and I´m travelling across slowly to Buenos Aires. From there ill see some of Argentina before travelling up the coast to Rio. How was last carnival? Where did you stay? Was it really expensive? (Ive heard people say its extreemly expensive). Will it be hard to find accomodation. Any possibility of renting a flat for a few people?

It was really fantastic! That’s why we are going back. We had no luck with the flat we rented though. So I do not have any recommendations. It was very expensive (GBP2000 for two bed rooms) and when we arrived our land-lady wanted even more, although everything was agreed in advance. We are booking somewhere else this year. Try to book as early as you can.

I can look for some places for you. How much do you have available for each day? Do you prefer an apartment or hotel?

Have you ever thought about a hostel?

I'm looking to travel through Brazil in February 2006. Not sure if travelling alone yet as my mates can't make up their mind. Either way I'm going.

Have you been able to book places to stay yet?

its not a cheap holiday travelling from Australia but from all reports its going to be money well spent

Cant wait for carnival...

I had to book a four star hotel to get anything like value for money. And it wasnt cheap.. something like £300 for the five nights.
Should be good though, it is right on copacobana beach. i figure it would be a great place to have after parties as well!

see you all there...
