cambodia is a bit bumpy (especially during the wet season)- so a boat from siem reap to phnom penh and than on Mekong river would be a nicer way to travel

Hi
Have a few days in Kho San Rd in Bangkok then catch a bus to Pattaya on the coast,2hrs,100bt,NOT for nice girls but have a laugh anyway you are only passing through.
Jump another bus and its appox 5hrs,200bt to border at Hat Lek but you can jump off anywhere inbetween and go to the Islands or beaches.
Go through Cambodia border and jump a boat to Shanoukville,150bt and have a few days on great beaches and a lively town.
Jump a Minibus,150bt to Phnom Penh for a few days then a boat,200bt and bus to Saigon(HCMC).
I stay at Dung Hotel, clean!! and cheap and handy for everywhere.
At the border of Cambodia ASK at the Cambodiaian side for a Veitnam Visa and for a few $ he might give you one as you do know you need one for Veitnam.
For all your travel info just buy a second hand Lonely Planet Southeast Asia on a shoestring in a bookstall on the Kho San Rd and enjoy yourself and have a great trip, funny enough I done the full India trip by bus,Jan,Feb,March this year and it was something to remember for ever.
