Travel Forums Europe My first trip to Europe

seetheworl has indicated that this thread is about Germany

I will be travelling to Europe in September 2004.

Thinking of flying in to Frankfurt or Zurich.

What would be the best route to see some of Germany's scenery
and to take pictures.

I will eventually make my way to Italy and I only have 2 weeks.

:)

What sort of scenery are you looking for - River/forest/hill/mountains/city?

For a bit of everything, a basic and simple way is to go from Frankfurt to Singen (on the border) via either Stuttgart or Karlsruhe and then along lake Konstanz and into Zurich that way. A quick trip from Frankfurt north to, say, Koblenz or Bonn and back again gives you great views of the Rhine valley - use traditional route, not ICE.

For more mountainous bits, continue from Stuttgart to Munich, then down to Garmisch P. From their either that route down to Innsbruck and via the Tirol/Liechtenstein to Zurich or loop round via Kempten - Lindau route.

If you need any more details or have specific things you want to see, let me know and i can probably given you better possibilities

Hi

Do consider Austria in your plan. The journey I took by rail from Salzburg, Austria to Zurich was simply the best.

Want an illustration? Check out the photos I took of the journey at www.imagestation.com/members/alainwee. Look for Salzburg and Zurich folders.
