To tackle this problem Virgin launched it's first course at London Heathrow.
For 200 pounds/$350 for 1 day training they send you even on a 45 min flight over London.
Virgin Atlantic has a special department dealing with flight anxiety which you can contact before your flight.

but you would have to take a lot more worth of valium to fly for 45 minutes

No amount of Valium or paying Virgin will make a difference to me. If i decide to ever get around to flying, it's my own choice and not being forced. I'm not scared of flying, i just don't want to...
