Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean From Brazil to Cuba and then to Mexico??

Hi guys,
some help here please...
not really sure how to do this but am planning my trip to South-Central America and don't really know what the cheapest way is from Brazil to Cuba (late January)... flights seems quite expensive but don't think there is any chance for a bargain ferry down there....
as I am then meeting friends in Cancun, is there a ferry from Cuba to Mexico? I am a bit worried that Cuban customs won't let me in if I don't have a return flight or something booked out of the country ...
please help
Thanx
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
Yes me and four Friends are also looking for a boat or some form of transportation from Cuba to Mexico. I have searched the internet everywhere and no luck. If I find something I will let you know. We are doing a similiar trip, Canada, Cuba, mexico, through central america and down to Brazil. Hope you have fun!

Have just re-read my Lonely Planet guide to Cuba and it says that there are no scheduled ferry services to Cuba.
I think you will have to fly in and out of Cuba.
We took Copa airlines from Lima to Havana then Aeromexicana from Havana to Cancun.
Always remember, it's only money!!!

I know Copa airlines fly out of Sao Paolo and I think it may be twice a day. From there you would connect in Panama City for Havana. Check their website for airfares and connection times.

No problems at all entering Cuba without a returning ticket to Cancun. Click-Mexicana and Cubana Airlines enjoy officies in Havana where you will be able to buy your one way ticket back to Cancun. Cubana cheaper than Mexicana. You could even book your ticket online if you like. No ferries at all between Cancun and Cuba.
