I am going to drive from the USA probably thru Texas and go all the way to Nicaragua. I would appreciate any help and suggestions.
Does anyone know of a good website or map that shows the Pan-Am Highway route.
Also does anyone have any suggestion on must-see sights on the way in Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.
On escapeartist.com/articles a fellow traveler described his car journey to Nicaragua from the USA. He gives very useful tips how to get the car through various customs with as little bureaucracy and financial damage as possible, so check it out.
I drove once from Texas to Acapulco - one way through Monte Verde and Mexico City, the other through Veracruz and we had no problems, save one fake policeman in Mexico City who fished for a bribe, but we spoke Spanish and told him we knew the driving rules of Mexico and that we can go to a police station to settle the argument. We won - not paying, because we spotted he was a fake and did not give him our passports. I heard police in Mexico is no longer so coirrupeted, but learn to know ALL the insignia of a legitimate policeman before you give a passport - or even stop - for someone suspicious.
Thanks for the info! I am sure it will help.
