Super friendly people, really beautiful country, and much cheaper than Thailand. Also, they haven't become used to tourists yet, they still thinks it's exciting with western people, they are really warm and welcoming - and noone will try to scam you.

I would go to Laos too. Havent been there yet and hadnt even considered ever going there until I started my RTW trip but people I have met while travelling have almost unanimously described it as one of the most amazing countries they have ever been to. Its cheap, the people are meant to be really friendly and its pretty raw in terms of the extent to which tourism has developed so its that much more exciting than Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam.

Of the countries I have already been to, my favourite was probably Bolivia for many of the same reasons why I would like to go to Laos.
It is cheap, has friendly people and every day was an adventure. I think 1 month would be just about the right amount of time to spend in Bolivia.

if you have 1 500 pounds (some $2700) per month you don't need to work and leave as a king in Laos or Bolivia (or even London)
