I am a 27 year old female who will be travelling to Canada with my parents for my brothers wedding in BC on the 17th sept. The week prior to the wedding I will be in calgary (10-16)and the week after the wedding we will be going to Vancouver and Vancouver island. Although I have quite cool parents, I'm sure they don't want me cramping their style for the whole holiday and vise versa. Has anyone got any ideas of things I can do and places I can go, I am generally quite active and will try anything once! any help or advice would be much appreciated!
What are your interests ? Bars and clubs or sports or outdoors? You're in probably one of the most beautiful locations in Canada. Calgary is within a stone's throw of the Rockies. Vancouver is right on the Pacific. There's sea kayaking in Vancouver, hiking in the Rockies, if you have a car you can even head up to Whistler for some skiing and snowboarding if you want.
If you have a car, the Canadian Rockies just outside of Calgary are amazingly beautful to just get out and drive around. You should look into heading to Banff if at all possible. I've never been to Vancouver, but I hear it is one of the nicest cities in N. America, so I'm sure you'll have a great time! If possible, you might want to catch an NHL hockey game, as the preseason will just be getting underway at that time; those are two great hockey cities.
Vancouver is great. One of the most beautiful cities in the world. Stanley Park is wonderful, there is a very good aquarium there as well. As far as night life? I would probably head down to the gaslight distict or downtown near the financial center. But's it's been a while since I went out on the town there.
You should like Vancouver Island / Victoria too. Very nice, and lots of great pubs.
Are you looking for stuff to do in Calgary or can you get to the rockies? Banff is the main tourist trap, for a reason of course but there's hundreds of other places just as nice!!
