I met a guy last week who said there is a 7 floor shopping complex dedicated to electronics in Bangkok. I can't remember the name of it though. Does anyone have any idea?
Also i'm gonna buy a laptop there, will i have any probs bringing it back into the country?
It's called Panthip Plaza and I can't for the life of me remember how to get there. It is good to browse around, but the laptops and DVD/CD media isn't really any cheaper than here in the UK. My boyfriend and I thought about buying a laptop out there (in order for the laptop to work over here, you would need to buy a new UK specific power cable) but when we investigated, they weren't cheaper. Also you will probably have difficulty in finding a proper western keyboard with all the keys in the right places!
Hope this helps
I agree with Donna, if you're looking for a bargain laptop in BKK then i think you will be disappointed. Electrical goods are very similar in price to the UK.
Panthip Plaza is on Phetburi Rd, walking distance from both Ratchathewi Sytrain station and/or World Trade Centre shopping centre. Over the years I've bought stacks of computer equipment there and can only assume loubylou is joking about the keys on the keyboard as I've never had that problem!
You can get a new entry level laptop for around 25,000B. I bought a Compaq presario 2500 there about 18 months ago for 31,000B - very happy with it, though no idea what it would cost outside Thailand.
Hope that helps
