hey me and my gf are going back to oz for the second time on our whm's visa that is still valid. thing is were going back on a one way ticket then intending on buying a flight to nz while where there.
does any one know if we will be ok getting in the country with out a return ticket and not that much funds?
spoke to people over in oz who did it no probs but a bit worried as i dont want to be deported!!!
cant i just tell then my family is going to fund me and buy me a ticket if and when i need it?
I have no problems getting in twice on my WHV with no outbound ticket. Although both times I have had proof of plenty of funds. Although I have never been asked to show them anything! Just handed over my passport and had it stamped!
Again I am sure there are cases of both!
what do you need for proof of funds?
i think you need a bank balance or savings book.
i emailed the people i bought my visa off and they said i need to show proof of £2000 if they ask?
bit worried as only going to have about £1000 in my account or in travellers cheques etc...
does any one knowif there lickely to ask to see proff? and if i dont have proof what happens?
I've entered New Zealand once and Australia three times on working holiday visas, and have never been asked to show proof of funds or anything money-related at all, really.
That's not guarantee of course, but I think as long as you don't look completely destitute, you should be fine. (Plus, you'll already have the working holiday visa - the one time I'd expect them to ask is when you first enter the country and get that in your passport.)
did you enter on a one way ticket? i had no problem on my return ticket its just the one way tickets so they can see how your going to leave!
One way tickets every time (not that they ever checked) - I'm making up my itinerary as I go.
granted, I didn't have a WHV, just the regular ETA, but they needed my return tix twice while I was there. once when I first entered, then when I went for a trip to Indonesia w/ a return ticket, they wouldn't actually let me leave w/o showing my exit tik from OZ!
if I do say so myself, I was a very innocent looking 22 year old at the time, with lots of stamps in my passport showing that I'm a backpacker.
maybe get your tik to NZ at the same time as your 1way to OZ, just so long as it's a changeable tik it won't really matter the date.
