Hi, I am meeting friends in Vietnam but am gonna fly to Bangkok. Could anyone tell me if there is a possibility train or bus and how long it would take? Or do you think I should rather take a flight? Thanks for your help!!!

no trains really - unless your are into trainspottering.

buses/roards are bumpy - use boats where you can.

take a flight

You can get a return flight for about 9,000 baht if you get a flight in Bkk. I know it's just over 100 pound. I shopped around for a flight a few weeks ago. Flight time is 1 hour 20 minutes. Also, if you get the bus, you'll have to pay for a visa to travel through Cambodia.

Of course flying solves the problems of time and road hazards. You do need to add the departure taxes of 500bt from BKK and $14 fron VN. If you have time, perhaps fly to VN then come back to Thailand via Cambodia. You will certainly have an adventure and get to see Angkor Wat to boot. Worth a thought.
