Quoting MASSAGEUK

yep, somebodies physical size shouldn't ever be an argument - as if the great proportion of an american population wasn't overweight?

and everybody should be able to say what they think - even if they are not able to pump water out or shoveling sand up onto the levees. For that there should be qualified and experienced engineers with a proper equipment.

Moore should be really there with his camera to show us what really mass media tend not to see

as that post was flagged - hardly revolutionary socialism beems through it - I would like to ask somebody who did it what he/she do think about rights quaranteed by an american constitution (and I don't mean a right to carry a gun)?

Indeed posts #8 & #9 were flagged as inflammatory spam. I have returned them to open discussion, and have left post #10 as well.

BUT, I would like to remind everyone that this forum is here for non-travel-related (as well as travel-related) discussion and those discussions should remanin intelligent. Let's all keep that in mind when posting our opinions. Once a thread begins to slide down that slippery slope of sarcasm and slanderous remarks, it tends to snowball out of control. I'd hate to see that happen. Feel free with agreeing to disagree - just do it thoughtfully. Thank you.

who really watches these news stations? they arent even news channels? FOX has its hands down GW's Pants and CNN just plain tells u lies? i would hope Moore was asleep and FAILED to watch these channels as they will only show Americans what they wanna see!!!

"dont wanna be an American Idiot!!"

Who really watches cable news networks? Are you just naive or needing to vent? Millions watch cable news because they are 24hr news rather than network stations that spend the majority of their air time on entertainment programs. Last time I checked, CNN was labled too liberal for many Americans. Fox does take a more conservative stance with it's commentators and MSNBC is in the middle. Pick one or channel hop. Your choice. Isn't freedom wonderful? You can choose your options or turn it off and not be bothered.

"i would hope Moore was asleep and FAILED to watch these channels as they will only show Americans what they wanna see!!!"

Perhaps you have forgotten basic economics. If you have a channel that nobody tunes in, you are out of business. Of course they show what their audience wants to see, that is why both Fox and CNN are successful. They have loyal viewers that make them profitable. During the Michael Jackson trial, several court TV stations covered it extensively. Why? Viewers told them they were interested enough to watch daily. If there was no interest, it would not have been covered, or much less intensely. There are thousands of trials a month in the US, very few get covered by TV. Why? No interest in them. A cable channel must have an audience or they fail.

"'don't wanna be an American idiot!!"

I certainly hope not. Goodness knows there are more than enough idiots in the world already, no need to have another. Stay informed, voice your opinion and be a good example of an American living overseas.

This thread was started as a criticism of the Michael Moore letter and the author(in my opinion). I felt the need to expand on the author of this manuscript and his present state of affairs. Michael Moore said himself at the end of Farenheit 9/11 - "If you weren't ready to swing, by the end of this movie you will have swung."
'Nuff said.

If hope my use of adjectives reveals my enthusiasm in the Topic at hand. I am more than happy that we may continue this thread and would like to see more of Michael Moore's manuscripts posted for TP forum debate. If you can find anymore intelligent and thoughtful 'letters' of his to post for open discussion, please ....

Volunteers are neede, also, to alevaite the situation in New Orleans. And the people there are more than happy to accepate the help of their brothers and sisters with shovels, cranes, earth-movers or even a bottle of water. Something that someone with a heart and without a Ph.D. could provide. As of yet, I have not seen Michael Moore or heard of his involvement in the Hurricane Katrina disaster, besides this post you have provided.

I hope that we all continue to follow this tragedy as it evolves over the next 365 days til New Orleans is restored and dried out. Even when it is an 'old' topic of discussion and the media stops the coverage for the next horrible dilemna in the world.

DOH! fair enuff on the news channels broadcast for money. But Fox is only good for one thing, The Simpsons!!! woohoo

and for CNN
I recall that morning when al-terrorists attacked NYC, CNN played a video of celebrating Palestinians....

"Those are images of Palestinians celebrating the invasion of Kuwait! It's simply unacceptable that a superpower of communications as CNN uses images which do not correspond to the reality in talking about so serious an issue."

Now while thy deny the claim that it was actualy a celebration 10 years old from Kuwait liberation news, are they not in bad taste anyway.

"For many of us, one of the most disturbing images of these past painful weeks has been that of the celebration of a few Palestinian youths after the tragedy. This image has been played over and over again on CNN, thus reinforcing the myth that somehow the whole of the Arab and Muslim world rejoices at our pain."

But livin over here I have the BBC and.... the internet (which is ALWAYS correct). And i never take my news from JUST one source, Especially Politically charged.

Now Jeff, how could you leave off 'Family Guy'? I laugh out loud more during 'Family Guy' than the 'Simpson's'. Perhaps you are not getting them over in Britain. That would be a pity.
