We're flying into Singapore around the 6th of November and hanging around for a few days before travelling up through Malaysia and onto Thailand. We want a stop somewhere in Malaysia and my girlfriend has looked at Penang and Langkawi.
Anybody been to both and which would you recommend? Only really have tome for one of them and would spend around four or five nights there. Once there what would you recommend?
Cheers for any tips!
penang - nice and cheap.
langkawi is upmarket, with poshy resorts and a lot of europeans.
Dear Steen 1976
Been to both and would defintely recommedn Penang . Lots more to do and
a lot cheaper than Langkawi . Stay at Batu Ferringhi Beach at the ShangriLa Resort . Right on the beach and insist on a sea view apartment .
Im looking at doing a simalr thing, would you reccomend penang over Kula Lumper?
I like Penang more - but there are many intresting things to do in KL as well (Petronas, Bird/Butterfly/Orchid Parks, TV tower, caves outside the city).
when in Penang do check out an unique chinese bonesetter and massage therapist mr Lay on 6 Larong Amoy
penang is amazing...
unlike langkawi, still nice.. but very touris-ty!
Thank you all for the replies!!
It will definately be Penang now after that. It looks easier to get to by train anyway. The beaches look good, Georgetown seems like a very interesting place, some nice days out, cheap accommodation and a nice ride up the fenicular(sp)!
