Travel Forums Asia Anti malaria tablets - do i need a drs letter?

In the lonely planet it advises anyone travelling to most places in SE Asia should have a doctors note for any medication. Does anyone know if this includes anti malarials? Theyre in a pack with my name etc on it so I was thinking i won't need a letter but dont want to take any chances!!

Any advice?

I wouldn't worry about it, we never had any problems and never heard of anyone having a doctors note for anti malaria pills whilst we were in SEA for 4 months earlier this year.

i've traveled all over india, china, nepal, etc. without any medications --- i did get sick once because i drank the hotel water without filtering it first, but the meds aren't as necessary as LP makes it sound. ....and i've been there in rainy season. when we did need some meds, you can get everything over the counter, only thing is, lot of the meds are beyond their expiration point

you don,t need any dr's letter for any medicine. In fact you don't have to carry any medicine with you as all the medicines are avalable over the counter an moreover it is quite cheap.
