Travel Forums Round the World Travel Sleeping bags???

Hey there

I'm travelling around South America in february and I was wondering should I invest in a small sleeping bag, or should I just skip it?
I won't be camping, just staying in hostels and such.

So what do you think?

Thanks alot

Elin

I don't think a sleeping bag is really worth it if you aren't going to be doing any camping. Everywhere I stayed in South America provided sheets and pillows and I never really used by Sleeping Bag at all.

What I might invest in is a travellers sheet (something that is a sheet sewn together with a little pocket for a pillow). This will give you clean sheets wherever you are. You can buy these at travel stores, or have one made (probably cheaper to just get one made or make it yourself if you know how to sew).

Thank you so much Greg, I might just start learnig how to sew;)

Those travel sheets sounds good, I didn't know about those. And propably don't take up as much space.

Thanx alot:D

I ordered a silk sleeping bag liner. That should get me around South America. The only place I will need a bag is for the Inca Trail and I think I might rent one. It's just not worth the hassle of dragging one around with me, especially during the summer down there.

A liner is really cheap.
Bought mine off e-bay, although it still hasnt arrived.
I'll let you know what it's like when I eventually get it.
