C O N G R A D U L A T I O N S.

Laura, oh bella of the hearts to never again be tempted. Turkey is your destination.

Fly London to Istanbul, where you will spend two nights and a day in the exotic capital exploring sprawling bizarres and Markets while strolling cobble and sandstone streets of antique civilizations. Here you will be accompanied by the spirits of anciet rulers and kings where discoving affordable accomodations and food is an interesting adventure alone. Then book your flight to the reflective green waters of the Agean sea to the resort of Bodrum (best place is along the stip in Sultanhumahmet where every 3rd shop sells discount trips and flights)

Bodrum is home to one of the ancient wonders of the world as well as a romantic castle which robbed its stones. Rent some motorbikes to experience the peninsula up close, take a day long boat cruise to Greek Islands and coves for a swim. With a little planning and organization through discount airlines. this trip could be very inexpensive and moreover unforgettable.

Hey Laura,
Turkey is a great idea. I think you should also consider Greece and Croatia. The Greek Islands are definitely worth a visit. Here are my suggestions:

1) Greece: Athens, Crete, Zakynthos, Corfu, Santorini

2) Croatia: Dubrovnik, Hvar

Hope this helps.

I agree with jeffG - Turkey is awesome, and the locals are some of the most hospitable people I've ever met.

If you want to keep it cheap, Greece is gonna kill ya.

I say spend a few days in Istanbul (I stayed at the Bahaus Guesthouse and HIGHLY recommend it), then head to either the Kapadokya Valley (crazy caves, underrground cities, and rock formations - stay at the Kose Pension and sleep on a matress on the floor for 5 lira) or to Kas and Olimpos on the Agean/Mediterranean coasts. If you go to Olimpos, stay at Kadir's Top Treehouses....15 lira per night in a treehouse with breakfast and all you can eat dinner included.

Bodrum wasn't really my thing (sorry moscowmetr!)- it was WAY expensive, and I'm not much into the clubbing nightlife scene (I guess that's mainly because it's so expensive though). I mainly just got a kick out of watching all the hot chicks, and the douchebag guys trying to get in their pants. My humble opinion is that it's probably not the best place to have a romantic getaway

I give a big thumbs up for Istanbul, Olimpos, and Kas.

Good luck with the trip!

Reid

I just left Turkey, where I've been for a year and half. Istanbul is a great idea. You can see great things and not spend a bunch. and don't worry about the bombs-you can't predict them or live your life like that!

if you move a little outside istanbul, there are tons of different sites to visit (ephesus, troy, pammekule (sp?)) along the coast. if you have more time, definately visit the olympos and cappedocia...
