Can anyone give a recommendation about mobile phone rental in Japan (for use during travel)? I read that J-Phone & DoCoMo offer this service. I also checked Japan Cell Phone Rentals (www.jcrcorp.com) but it seems to be designed for US citizens? I need to see the comparison. Main concern: price :-)
I read about Kaiyu Kippu pass in Osaka: a 2500 yen, 1-day unlimited pass for subway and also admission to Osaka Aquarium (ordinary admission 2000 yen). If anyone knows about it, I'd love to hear. And how much do you think we'll use the subway in 1 day in Osaka?
Thanks in advance for any info!
Hi zags, how about buying a new (Japanese) sim card for Japan before you go or once you're there?? It can work out a ton cheaper than renting a phone, that's for sure! I checked the destinations that the companies I know of offer (sim card comparison) but they don't seem to have Japan as one of the destinations...grr! Maybe it's not an option in Japan, or maybe you can just get them after arrival....
Hi Sam, thanks for your response. I don't think I can buy a new sim card as my mobile phone is a GSM phone, so it will be useless in Japan
My GSM operator here offers phone rental for customers travelling to Japan, but they charge it daily and if I make a call in Japan it will be charged as a roaming call. I don't think it a good deal.
Please if anyone knows more info about it and Kaiyu Kippu pass, let me know.
