happycamp has indicated that this thread is about Indonesia

Does anybody have any advice on bringing family including two very young children with me on an extended trip to Indonesia. I will be involved in the reconstruction projects in Aceh and may be there for up to one year. So I was considering bringing my family with me. Of course I would not take them to the tsunami affected areas, but just wanted to know if it would be OK to have them stay in Jakarta or some other areas (any suggestions?) and then I could visit them on weekends/holidays. Any suggestions/ideas/advice would be most helpful.

I think the most convenient place for your children to live in is Medan. It's not far from Aceh and it's not a tsunami affected area. You can go easily from Aceh to Medan vice versa.

I agree with Zags. Medan is only a few hours driving / bus from Aceh. Of course Jakarta would be the most convinent city for ur fam, specialy children, but if u put ur fam in Jakarta, u'll be taking air plane every weekend. It will cost u at lease 1.000.000,- rupiah/week. I have a friend who life in Medan and working at Binjai (aceh), so I think Medan would be the right place for ur fam to stay.
Don't be too worrie. Indonesian people is a very nice person, unlike u see in most world news.
