Anyone ever been? Is it worth a visit? Thinking of getting a cheap flight to Macau, then the boat across to Hong Kong, then flying on to Tokyo.

Any suggestions/ideas would be most welcome.

went there for 1 night only to get a new stamp in my passport while staying in Hong Kong - 2 museums, 2 temples, an observation deck on the TV tower.

not much worth - I don't think you can get cheap flights there from the UK

When did you go there to ge the stamp? Can I take the ferry there from HK? I was going to spend a day there then return to HK, I will be leaving in early October then fly to Bali then back to see more of OZ and NZ.

although part of china macau (as well as hong kong) do have different emmigration policies. Tourist visa in HG is 2 weeks, in Macau 1 month. It's wise not to overstay your Hong Kong visa - that's why I went to Macau just for 1 night to get a new 2 weeks visa on my return. Otherwise it's not not worth your travel there.

Macau is hot with gamblers - and it's only 1.5 h by ferry.

daveh! You've been to place which is even rich in culture and local food (than HK)!!!

Dont ever miss out the local food pork-steak bun/mee. There's a lot of shops selling this food all over HK and Macau but as the experienced tourists know, the original recipe is originated from a very district village in Macau where hundreds of people are queuing up for their cook-on-the-spot meal from even China and SE Asia(original recipe and no branches)!!! Sells thousands of steaks per day! (and it's very fast to be sold out!)

Good luck! (some ex-colleagues have been there before but failed to taste because of too long queue till the stuffs were all sold out!)
