bichio has indicated that this thread is about Vietnam

No-frills airline Thai AirAsia will begin a direct service between Bangkok and Hanoi October 17, and passengers can start booking next week,

The starting fare for a one-way ticket is just 1,449 baht plus taxes (equivalent to VND570,000 or $36). This compares to 13,785 and 17,480 baht charged respectively by Thai Airways and Vietnam Airlines.

The budget carrier would use 148-seat Boeing 737-300s on the sector, the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration said.

A Thai AirAsia representative said the airline hoped to achieve 80% occupancy and had also applied to fly on the Bangkok–Ho Chi Minh City sector.

Thai AirAsia, a joint venture between Malaysia’s AirAsia and Thailand’s Shin Corp, is the second budget airline to fly to Vietnam, after Singapore’s Tiger Airways.

to get an open bus ticket costs 20 US dollars. Flying 1 way cost me about 150 dollars US a few months back. Vietnam Airlines is the only airline that fly this route.
