Just wondering when exactly the ski season begins in New Zealand.
Where are the best ski resorts?
Also, another member here on TP, Steffbo, told me it's a good idea to purchase the season pass earlier in the year as it's about half the cost. DOes the cost vary much from place to place?
I remembered an old thread about ski season in NZ, you might want to check out http://www.travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm?thread=13480. If you got any questions about accomodation in Queenstown during sking season let me know .
Hope this helps,
Ski season is the same as Australia; from about mid June to mid September.
The best areas in NZ are Cardona, The Remarkables and Treble Cone.
There is no on piste' accommodation anywhere in NZ, so it's a morning trip from the nearest town.
Just a thought; there's excellent skiing in Japan - you might like to consider that?
Just in NZ now - was skiing in treble cone last week. Snow was a bit crap - apparently cardrona is closed. Was talking to instructors on treble cone - season ends oct. 9th and they will stay open till then. Apparently worst snow in years?!?! Not too sure when seson starts... Not much snow round Remarkables right now...
