Ok, as the date to begin my wanderings nears, I am starting to get nervous about the little details yet to be settled. I am planning a trip overland that looks like Thailand-Laos-Thailand-Cambodia-Vietnam-China-Vietnam-Cambodia-Thailand. As near as I can tell, I can get cambodian and Thai visas at the borders. I am planning on getting a laos visa in BKK. My question I guess is where to get the Vietnamese visa? BKK? Phnom Penh? Vientiane?
Also, I have been told that I can get a dual entry vietnamese visa. Anyone get one of these? What do they cost?
vietnam visa starts run from the moment it was issued - so do it in Phnom Penh, when you know exactly your dates.
Thanks. How about getting an extension? This project visa site says it can be done. How difficult is it to get and where does one get it?
as suggested dude, cambodia phnom penh is the cheapest place to get a vietnamese visa and the start from the day you tell them you'll be entering the country (your allowed duration dates are bascially written into your passport). the single entry visa cost $30 (we tried in thailand, laos, and cambodia was the cheapest). the multi entry will cost about $35 to $40
visa extensions are pretty easy, you can get them done at the embassy, or just give it to a travel agent in vietnam, they'll sort it out for you.
