Can anyone let us know which are the cheap airlines for internal flights in the US.

We need to get from San Francisco to New York as cheaply as possible in early December.

Cheers Guys

Cheapest airline is Southwest, but Southwest doesn't fly from San Francisco to New York--so there are a few choices--

Choice 1: Fly Southwest from Oakland (you can get there from San Francisco via the BART subway system) and then fly to either Philadelphia or Providence, Rhode Island--then take a train or bus the remaining distance.--or fly to Long Island, (Long Island is much closer)and then get a rental car to go to New York. However, parking in New York costs a fortune.

Choice 2: (What I do when I go there every Christmas--my in-laws live there) is take a different airline that costs a little more, but goes into one of the three major airports (Newark, John F. Kennedy, or LaGuardia). My suggestion is to look at American, American West, Continental, Song, Delta, JetBlue, or Northwest. Of these, I believe only only American, Continental, and JetBlue fly this route non-stop.

Make sure you book as early as possible--today would be best, since the flights during the Christmas season go fast, and as they do, prices go up drastically. If you can go early in December--as opposed to the end of the month, you can save a bundle of cash. Also, if you're not picky about dates or airlines, try Priceline or check out a site like Kayak which looks for the best flights for you.

Great!!! Glad you were successful. I just booked my own tickets to New York for over the holidays a few days ago. Maybe I'll see you at the airport--or in Manhattan.
