I need your help.

I love music, but lately I'm getting really sick of listening to all the stuff I have. Seeing as I'm going away travelling soon, I want to download some new tunes - I'm going to be stuck with the same ones for quite a while on the road....

I mainly love Electronic and trip-hop stuff, but I love all types of music, so any suggestions are welcome!

Thanks everyone!

Well, I may be completely off the mark for your musical tastes, but here are some of the things I'm planning to download onto my (sister's) MP3 player before I leave:

  • U2s Greatest Hits
  • Abbey Road
  • This and that from The Smiths
  • Some Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young (I love their harmonies!)
  • Whatever Disco hits I can find that make me go "Oh, yeah! I remember that!" (I've been re-listening to "Oh what a night" and "Don't stop till you get enough" off my sister's song list, and I'm hooked - and I really want to find "Love is in the air" for some reason)
  • This and that from The Tragically Hip (they're a Canadian band - fantastic stuff)
  • This and that from Wilco
  • Some Bowie

Hmmm... I know there's more...

Thanks Tway!

Don't have Abbey Rd actually...have been meaning to get that forever!

Have never heard any of Wilco's stuff but have heard good things, so might try and find some of that.

Have virtually all of U2's stuff - If you're going to be getting some U2, get Achtung Baby...I think it's one of their best albums.
"One", the greatest love song ever, is on it.

I'm going to have to bring myself to listen to Bowie again. I used to listen to his music all the time but now it just reminds me of a relationship that I'd rather forget, so I'm going to have to take it slowly with Bowie

I was shuffling through my sister's MP3's yesterday, and "One" popped up. I was feeling kinda blah all week, but in an instant it made me happy for no particluar reason. Funny how music can do that to you.

I love "One" too, it's a beautiful song. I also love "Walk On" and "Where the Streets Have No Name". U2 comes up with really great songs.

Um, other than that, I think my music tastes aren't quite the same as yours. I like a couple of Savage Garden songs, a bit of Pet Shop Boys, some Ricky Martin , Wang Chung and one Don Henley song ("The Heart of the Matter").

  • Belle and Sebastian
  • Daft Punk
  • SR71

To name a few I wide array of sounds, perfect for the road ahead.

Get some good Ministry of Sound collections, from electronica and dance to chill. The CDs are a great mix, and you get heaps of songs for the money.

If you're liking the electronica and trip-hop I hope you have Esthero her first album is awesome. Great for driving and really done well. Too bad no one knows about her. I heard a little of her newer album and wasn't too impressed. DJ Krush remixed and did a bunch of songs with her, also. Look for some of his stuff.

Do you like any EBM-Electronic Body Music? I've gone on a rampage lately picking up any Front 242 I can find. Awesome for driving and chilling. Not a lot of vocals and very industrial-ambient. Trip-hop is hard to find - look for compilation albums. I don't know any bands or dj's of the top of my head. Justin Warfield had an album a long time ago - My Field Trip to Planet 9. Really groovy and trip-hop. Or maybe a little MC 900ft Jesus?

Hope you find something good. Let us know what you come up with!:)
