Hi
Great place to travel and easyest/cheapest way to travel is by bus and all fares and bus stations and great places to see and to just jump off at are in Lonely Planet South East Asia.
All I do is jump on a bus 0800 and jump off appox 1200,4hrs max as the roads are A1 as are the bus's and they can travel great distances in that time.
Just be flexible with your plans and away you go.
Also check out links, destinations, accomodation at top of this page.
It looks as if you are coming down from Thailand so have a great trip and enjoy the thrill.

When in Malaysia I caught a bus from KL to Jerantut and then a boat up the river for 3 hours to Taman Negara - the national park. This was one of the most peaceful, memorable and fun trips I've had in SE Asia.

There was buffalo basking on the shores of the river and a lot of bird life making the trip fantastically scenic.

Go stay with Crazy Like Monkey - if he's still around!
