I feel the need to travel but i am confused and undecided about the destination i will choose. I feel very depressed and bored the last months and i really need to get away and re - discover my self, set new goals and seek new challenges.
I have a wife, kid and a dog and i adore all of them, but i need to travel solo this time. Because i have a full time job i will not have so much time to travel but i think that i can manage to escape for a couple of months.
Do u think travelling will help me?Where do u think i should go, why and what do u think it will cost me considering i am on a low budget?
Any suggestions from people that have been in a similar situation will be appreciated.
thank u

The best thing for you sounds to be South America.

I hate to generalise, but the people I found there were warm, friendly and live their lives to be happy and particularly in Brazil to have fun, which coming from England where it is easy to find grumpy depressed people (of which I try my hardest not to be!!)was an amazing breath of fresh air!!

It is low budget almost everywhere on the continent and easy to get around and meet people and have new experiences, which for me is the number ONE aim!

If you get round to planning anything and want any advice particularly on Brazil please don't hesitate to contact me.

And lastly but not leastly don't let life get you down! sounds like things could be worse, I like to take a day out and smile at as many strangers as I can, (i did that today cos I was feeling abit depressed too and I feel a whole lot better now)it sounds stupid I know but thats just me...

Take it easy

Hi
I propose you to come to India. With your state of mind it is the best place for mental peace and salvation. Those who have already been there will agree with me. Budget wise I think it is one of the cheapest. So make up your mind and move on. Any problems just mail me.

Hey bibs, do you know a guru who will bring lost Europeans to enlightment?

You could spend a bit of time in south east asia... would be a great destination to clear your head and is also low budget...

I've travelled alone before - although never for months at a time. I found it gave me the space and freedom to be whatever I wanted to be on any given day. No one knows you, so you start fresh with every person you meet. Travelling alone has been one of the best experiences in my life, if only to conquer the fear of having to rely only on myself.

As for where to go, well... South America and parts of Asia are purported to be pretty affordable. Pick a place you've always wanted to visit and start planning from there.

I have been in your shoes before and South East Asia was my cure. I went solo and that trip changed my life. This time I am going to South America not for because I am depressed but rather I feel like my life needs some adventure. I know SE asia is really cheap and the people are extremely nice. Traveling does wonders to the your soul. Have a good trip.

thanks everyone u have been very helpful!!
i think that i should stop thinking about it and just go ahead and do it. I like the idea of India but also South America sounds exciting. I wll search the internet for those destinations and take it from there.
What is the best way to blend with the local people and also meet other travellers on the destination?
