Anybody have a hotel suggestion or a area to stay in montreal where there's a good nightlife? Also what places should I see while I'm there? Let me know peeps.

Are you looking for hostels more than hotels?? If not, I can recommend the Best Western Europa which is situated right in the heart of everything (almost). We just spent 3 nights there during the N. America TP meet-up and we were 1-2 blocks away from everything except Old Montreal. Mount Royale and Old Montreal were still within walking distance, nightlife abounded on all sides, and Metro was within 2 blocks also.

Things to do in Montreal:

1) Walk through Vieux (old) Montreal. Catch a few street performers at the Places Jacques Cartier.

2) Take a boat cruise down the river.

3) Go to the top of Mont Royal at sunset.

4) Visit the Farmers market at Jean-Talon.

5) Olympic tower

6) Visit the Latin Quarter.

The nightlife at Crescent St is more mainstream and caters more to tourists than it does to locals. To catch some of the local flavor, try some of the night spots on St .Laurent. Hope this helps.

A great place to stay in Montreal is a small hotel called Anne ma soeur Anne, in the Plateau. The area is great, very lively and not touristy. The hotel is small and has great rooms, for a better price than major chains. There is a Web site if you want to have a peek at the place.

The Plateau is one of the nicest areas of town, with tons of restaurants, caf├ęs and bars. You are also only a few subway stations away from downtown.

Have a nice time in MTL!

i would recommend the Hostelling International place, its at the end of rue mackay heading south. its like $21 american (25 candian) a nite and its one of the top ten hostels in north america or the world or some crap. it was super chill and its a 4 person dorm, so its a good way to meet random people
i highly suggest it. i was just there a week ago. i cant remember the name. you can check it out on like a billion different hostel websites so just check out hostelling international or .
its right near all the pubs and cool places adjacent to rue saint catherine. but whatever its up to you
enjoy yourself in montreal, i was ever so enthralled with it.

Adding to what Evan said, the name of the hostel is Auberge de Jeunesse. I have stayed there twice and I have to agree that it is an excellent hostel.
