I am starting my trip round the world in Bangkok. I thought that it might be nice to stay somewhere slightly upmarket with aircondition to get used to the travelling lifestyle slowly. I wanted to stay on khao san road.
I was wondering if anyone had stayed or hear of the buddy lodge on Khao san road. It looks quite nice and wasnt too expensive for the two nights i'll be there. Any other suggestions would be gratefully received
There is a beautiful hotel on Ko San called the D&D Inn. It has a massive big D&D green sign outside so you cant miss it. It was 350 baht when i was there but i think its up to bout 500 now. Still 10 dollars isnt bad and it has a swimming pool and bar on the roof!
I got stuck for 2 weeks there!!
I think I stayed at this place actually (but don't quote me on it, I didn't pay that much attention...)!! It was okay, but just a room with airco as far as I can remember. I personally like staying in a decent place the first and last nights as well. Kind of takes the edge off the days that require most from you in terms of jetlag/getting acquainted/ready etc.
I stayed at the Nana Inn Plaza in KSR but I will most definitely recommend the D & D Inn. It is one of the most inexpensive hostals there but also one of the nicest.
I havent heard of the Buddy Lodge so I am not sure how good it is. The Nana was ok, a/c, hot water, clean but the D & D was a bit cheaper and like I said, nicer.
Look in my photo gallery, I have pics of KSR Day Time and Night Time. You can see the sign for the D & D Inn (big green sign like Maktub said) but it is very clear in the night one.
Thanks guys. But does anyone know a website where i can check out the D & D Inn to have a look for myself. Ive done a search but nothing comes up?
This is the closest thing I have found to it...I believe that is their website, although when you hit D & D, the picture of the "entrance" does not look familiar to me. But it is in KSR and it is the right location. The pics of the rooms and the roof top pool are 100% accurate.
When you arrive to KSR, walk on the street (not on the side walk) to look for their sign. There are so many street vendors that you may miss it...it is easier to find it from the street and find your way in through them afterwards.
Ok, in the photo gallery there is a very good pic of the hotel. Here it is...
