Travel Forums Introductions Care-giving for reluctantl travellers

Hi everyone...I've just joined and can see I'm going to LOVE spending time on this site.
During my travels, I have heard of people without the confidence to take holidays, either because of health issues or disabilities. This seemed sad and there didn't seem to be an answer for them. I love to organise, travel and have a medical background, so thought I'd like to start a 'travel care-giver' service. Any thoughts on this? Thanks, Barb

Hello, Barb, welcome to Travellerspoint!

It sounds you are generous enough to share people your care and sensitivity.

Keep up your good work! Hope to see you around here.

Cheers,
Lee

Hi Barb,

The world needs more people like you. ;)

I wish there were more tour groups / holiday coorindators around that catered more for people with disabilities. It's an issue very close to home for me.

There isnt any reason why disabled people cant travel and see the world. Okay, realistically, they cant ever backpack or do it on a shoestring budget, but with some good organisation they can see and do most of the things that able-bodied people do.

I think a lot of people feel that their life is over when they become significantly disabled, and that is sad.

It would be great if they could go on holidays designed specifically to cater for their needs, without making them feel like they are disabled. ;)

Hi Barb,

Welcome to TP.. sounds like a great idea, I'm sure that there are many people in your catchment area that would fall into this category (a retirement area). Why don't you place an add in the local paper & put a notice on the bulletin board at Citizens Advice etc.. Good Luck with it
