Curently in Italy at the mo, and planning on travelling to Greece in a couple of weeks. Currently using an interrail pass!
Where do we get the ferry from? How much does it cost with an inter-rail pass? Do we have to book it in advance?? and where do we get the times from?
Thankyou in advance for your advice and help

I went from Greece to Italy via ferry a few months ago and took the Blue star ferry from Patras to Bari. It was free with the interrail pass, but it was an overnight trip so I got a reclining seat to sleep in that was about 25 euros. Don't get a seat though, I ended up sleeping on the floor, it was more comfortable.
You just show up. No reservation neccesary.
Think you can also go via Ancona in the north - depeding on where you are. Bes thing to do is to go to the ferry port - it will have loads of desks with loads of info about the ferries and stuff. I found that the people were really useful. I booked ticket in advance as thought this was the easier and more convenient option and then had to book in as you would do a flight the morning of departure.
All the info u need will be at the ferry port, getting a ticket the day / night before sholdnt be a problem as long as u can be flexible.
