I am still feeling the jetlag since 2 nights ago and tomorrow im heading of to Adelaide but i dont know how yet. The owner of my hostage said that i could go to Central station and take a bus or train. I could also check the flights but that is to much money though im planning to stay 1 year in Australia.
is there anyone who can give me some answer how i can make it to Adelaide from Sydney the cheapest way?
welcome to australia. i just had a quick look for your 3 options- bus, rail or plane (or walk perhaps??).
From the Greyhound website (a major Australian bus company) the cheapest fare I found was $125 but that was going through Melbourne which made it lengthy or for $156 direct to Sydney which took about 24 hours. There's probably other bus companies but I can't think of any off the top of my head.
From the Virgin Blue website the cheapest flight I found was $215 but obviously the advantage is that its much quicker. Maybe there might be some cheap tickets to be scrounged at the airport but I've never tried that. Jetstar don't fly to Adelaide I think and Qantas's flights were $213 so not much difference between Virgin- although you do get food and movies on Qantas whereas Virgin is no-frills.
The only way I know to go by train is the Indian Pacific but there are probably other options I don't know about. This departs on Saturdays and Wednesdays I think with a day-nighter seat being $233 for an adult.
Good luck with whatever you decide and I hope you enjoy Australia,
i just rembered that the firefly express also does that route but only via melbourne- for $110 so a bit cheaper than greyhounds.
Me and a friend are travelling by plane from adelaide to sydney in december, and we are only paying $79 each for the flight with virgin blue.
It was the cheapest and quickest option for us.
Hope that helps
