Im planning a trip to Montreal in June. I was wondering if any one knew how hard it is to find work without being able to speak fluent french.
Any hints on work/living in Montreal would be very much appreiciated.
Also if anyone is planning on going to Montreal around the same time, send me a message.

well, i won't go to montreal this summer but i've been there two years ago - in a language school - and i can assure you, not everybody speaks french there!! although it's in the mostly french speaking province of quebec, half of montreal is english speaking - what sometimes may be a little annoying... because if you are in the french part, the shop assistans for example may treat you a bit mean if you insist on speaking english and the other way round, but that's all...
because i was in a language school, i wasn't really interested in looking for a job, but i was surfing the internet for that and maybe you find something here:
and just for fun: http://www.tourisme-montreal.org
but i guess, you might need an address as well in the area you want to apply - so look as well for accomodation!
in every case, i can tell you that montreal is a very nice, interesting and quite safe city. i lived in two different parts during my stay (english and french) and i never had any trouble. they have a good metro system and lots of taxis... anyway, one day, i'm sure, i'll go back!
ok, i hope i could help you - if you have any further questions, just ask!
My name is Scott and I am a Canadian familiar with Quebec. If the Language is your only concern then don't worry about it.....like the other reply said, most people speek english....in Montreal I wouldn't doubt if it was close to over 90%. I would be more worried about finding a job. Unless you have the proper work permits then you will be forced to find an unofficial job, which could be harder....not too mention I don't know how interested your employers will be to hire you for only a short time.......but don't give up.....serving will probably be your best option.
