Janice21 has indicated that this thread is about Greece

i am in a similar situation - i got a volunteer position for the olympics, but i can't take it unless i have a place to stay from august 6-29th. if anyone has any suggestions as to who to contact for hostels, or if anyone knows of a billet situaiton i could jump in on, i would really appreciate it!

if any other volunteers/travellers/olympic goers are out there and want to join up to try to see if we can rent a cheap place together for the month, i'm up for that too!

madly searching greece from canada,
- janice

I applied to be a volunteer but I haven't found out yet! How long did it take you to find out? And what position were you offered?

My sister and I are in the same position as both of you. We've been offered positions as transport venue assistants. Don't know what dates we're needed yet. Have either of you had any luck so far?

Have you looked at the accommodation you can book on this site? There are also lots of hostels, wich aren't very expensive. Maybe that could help you out.
Greetings from Holland;)

I too am in a similar dilemma. I have been accepted as a volunteer for the Olympics, but still have no luck finding accomodation. I am trying to team up with other volunteers and try my luck that way. If you guys have any idea, please let me know. I would be open to any ideas - sharing a place, camping, etc

Hi there!

I'm on the exactly same situation (I'm a volunteer in the transport section) and here are the things I've been trying so far:

- House and room rentals: most interesting option so far. Not less than 1000 euros for a period of 20 days (10-29 august), but some offer breakfast or cleaning of the place.

- Hotels: a lot more expensive. At least 80 euros, when they have vacancies that is.

- Camping: 40 euros per person per night on a 4-people tent. I found one near Athens, but they never answered my e-mails.

- Friends of friends of friends and their family: another volunteer who lives in my city is ringing everyone she knows and their dog. She managed to find 3 people that live in Athens and is waiting for answers. This works when you're not as shy as I am about asking for favors :)

Did I miss anything? Is there any other accomodation I should be looking into? Also, if any of you are going to be there at the same time, and find a place you could share with other people, let me know. Currently, we are four volunteers looking for a floor to put a sleeping bag! :D

Please get in touch, guys!
