We're still looking to stay where we did in 2003 (I think it was 2003...), and that would be the Bahama Hotel on Ft. Lauderdale beach Blvd. Found it quite by accident. It's a bit run down, but comfortable, very 1950s shabby chic, and right across from the beach...and free breakfast (plus all the Barbara Streisand and Cher tunes you can stand...)

Ooh, they do have a pool and pool bar....

We will be getting a rental car as well, and would be willing to shuttle folks around, but we'll need to know about how many people will be at the Meet-Up. It's hard to fit more than 2.34 people in a 2-seat convertible... BUT, we're willing get a full size and be the cab.

Hope to see a group like we had in Montreal.

Yippee... can you pick me up at the airport in Miami thanks Mr Cab Driver Not sure what day I will get there but I want to stay at the Shabby Chic too will discuss it with you over a Martini or 3 at Isa Manor in the not too distant future

Love shabby chic - and it's across from the beach!!!

Anne is going to be checking out some of the hotels and hostels for us!! Thank you Anne!!!! She has a list of them and will see if she can stop by to see what they really look like, etc. As the meet-up gets a bit closer, we can start looking at meeting places and things to do around Fort Lauderdale. (Tina passes the tourguide torch to Anne for this flocking... ;) )

Evan and Evan (Evakan and SeeTheSky - in alphabetical order by username ), if you have any ideas or suggestions, please post. The more information we have, the easier it will be to organize when the time comes.

Thanks for all the responses!!!

Evan (Evakan),

Is your offer still valid? Managed to talk to your girlfriend about having some of us staying over a few nights? I'll be coming in Anne's boat, so get ready!

Hello All.

I am still trying. The last time we talked about it she was understandably a little uncomfortable with people she doesn't know staying in the apartment. So I have since been a sneeky little bugger and bought a cheap futon, put it in our guest room, and I told her it was just incase we had some company staying over in the comming months. She just smiled, rolled her eyes, and said "yeah yeah, I see what your doing." I'm not sure what she ment :), but I will talk to her more about it this weekend and let you all know ASAP.

If in the end no lodging is available in my humble abode, then I will most likely stay at the Bahama Hotel for the weekend (to eliminate the 45 minute drive from my house to there). I do drive a van capable of seeting 6 people very comfortably, 7 people kind of comfortably, and 10 people crammed like a sardine can, so I will also be able to play "cabbie" and most likely will also be able to make airport pick ups/drop offs.
