Hi All!

I am planning on staying in Klagenfurt, Austria next year for 6-12 months. Since my dogs will be coming with me, I am only interested in renting private houses. My questions are:

1. What range of cost should I expect per month?
2. Will I have a lot of trouble finding house rentals that will accept dogs (I have 2 of medium size).
3. What costs should I expect for other monthly expenses such as heat, phone, and internet?
4. If renting a house, is public transportation still an option or should I think about obtaining a car while I am there?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

maybe I can help u a little bit, but not sure...

I grew up in Klagenfurt, but always lived with my parents, so I can't tell u exactly what it will cost u etc.- but...

... I can teel u a few things:

1.) it depends where u live, different parts of the city, different prices (like everywhere)

2.) go on www.kleinezeitung.at (choose the province 'Kaernten' not 'Steiermark'!!!) and there you can check all the recent advertisments people placed in the newspaper. Hope u'll be able to do that, bec I it will be in german and I don't think u can change it to a different language

3.) Public transport is just awesome, so unless u wanna travel further, u won't need a car. Many people also travel by bike. (I can say that, bec here in NZ there is hardly any!)

4.) the dogs may be a problem, but don't have to be

I can't remember your other questions, but if u need any further help, don't hesitate to contact me!

when r u planning on going there???

have a nice weekend ;)
Kathi

Austria loves dogs! the joke is they love their dogs more then their children. you can take your dogs everywhere, including restaurants and on the train (with a bisskorb o the train - muzzle) so don't count anything out just because of the dogs. most living accomodations will also take dogs so count on the dogs not being a problem AT ALL! they will serve your dogs water before even handing you a menu at the restaurants.
