Ooh! Like the Rakes a lot. Just recently getting into them :)

Today I'm listening to:

1. Jon Brion ( of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind fame)
2. Boards of Canada - The CAmpfire Headphase
3. Billy Corgan (of Smashing Pumpkins) 's new album

Great stuff! :)

Yes the rakes are great, I saw them last night at the warehouse in Leeds plus the 5 o clock heroes were supporting them.

yeah I've heard good reports about Billy Corgan, I have some early smasing pumpkins stuff, so I may check him out, thanks!

I don't have much to add. Just wanted to say this is a great thread! I'm always up for new sounds....

I'm such a stickler for old music. I really, really have to like a new song to go out and buy anything from the last decade. I end up relying on friends (and TV ads!) to stay somewhat in the know about what's going on.

Were there other bands after The Beatles...?

I work for a music destributor, so I have tons of new music on my desk every day. I love hearing new music, but because I listen to so many new things so often I usually dont have the time to realy let the music 'sink in' and apreciate it. I guess thats why I still love the bands that first got me intrested in music: The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Mineral, Last Days of April.

However recently I have been getting into some new stuff, the last three cd's I listened to:

Coldplay - X&Y
Carbon Leaf - Indian Summer
Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams

Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams

ooo! I have that one on the MP3 player my sister lent me. Guess I'd better stop skipping through it and actually listen to it.

I only recently got into it... but it's pretty damn good.;) If you like beachy, mellow, relaxing groove acoustic rock then you will love it.

LOL.. He played a gig here in Auckland recently & when the crowd asked for a Smashing Pumpkins song he packed a wobbly, told them to go F*$k themselves & left the stage

Bit of a merchant banker I'd say
