We're looking at taking a nile cruise and, at this point, we're leaning towards a felucca rather than a 5* cruise.

Can you charter a felucca just for yourself or do you have to do it with a group?

Anyone have any recommendations?

Hello randomette

yes you can charter a felucca boat for even two people, but I don't think that you will enjoy it by yourself, if there other people with you, you can have fun together you can eat , swim, cook, drink tea, fishing ...etc , and do these thing with the felucca captain, you can have more info about the Nile Felucca boats from www.nilefelucca.com

I just visited Egypt a few months ago, and had done the nile cruise. It was great. The entire boat was french folk, with the exception one english couple. the crew was really good about making sure we had our 'own' table. The rooms were great, and service too.

I also toyed with the idea of the felucca trip...my sister had done this the year before and ravved about it. in the end i opted for luxury instead. on my way to dahab, i met a couple of guys that had done the three day felucca trip, and HATED it. one guy woke up in the middle of the nite to the captain having sex with the old woman from the other group. the going was slow, and the guys said they were incredibly bored. also, not the most sanitary of conditions from their description. Then I talked with another lady would had taken a felucca ride with four or five folks she knew, and had a blast.

deduction: hit or miss...totally depends on the crew and your shipmates... if you want to make sure you have a good time, spend the cash on the cruise ship, if your up for adventure, sport for the felucca...
