Hi all,
Myself and my girlfriend where origanally booked to go to Bali for a week around the end of november start of december. However due to the recent bombings we have decided to go to phuket instead. Has anyone ever been to phuket?, what is the best beach to stay at we are currently leaning towards Karon Beach is this our best option?. Anyone recommend anywhere to stay??

Thanks

Karon Beach is a nice big beach with no hotls on it. All the hotels and resorts are across the street from the beach. A friend of ours is the owner of Karon Cafe which is a restaurant and guest house. The rooms are very large and comfortable. See http://www.karoncafe.com/

Hi,
Karon is OK - avoid Patong further north unless you want something very busy.
Kata, south of Karon is smaller and more intimate. Nice small beach, but the hotels and bars are close by.

Be prepared for heavy rainshowers at this time of year. They usually come in the afternoon, but don't last long, and it soon warms up afterwards.

Why are you shirking from Bali..avoid the Kuta Beach (not the kind of place you'd like to spend some quiet moments with!), but you have Sanur, Ubud & Nusa Tiga...they are quiet and safe.I just returned from Bali...Anyway, if you are thinking of Malaysia, why not have a whole Malay house to yourself by the beach front in Marang ( Terengganu)...It belongs to a journalist friend of mine and he calls it RumahYamin. For a change, that is....

I think its obvious why i'am "shirking away from Bali". I'am going on holiday to relax, i don't to be looking at every guy with a backpack. As well as that my own country (Ireland) are advising people to stay away. I feel sorry that this has happened to the people of bali but i feel more sorry for the victims of the bombings. Anyway i've booked my flights with airasia, got a great deal as well thanks kandi. Looking for a good hotel now, the hilton looks nice anyone have any other suggestions?
