Yes - It is physically possible, and you maybe could do the touristy stuff in NYC and LA in 5 days each, but 2 weeks is WAY to short a time to do Australia or Malaysia. If I only had 8 weeks I would do only OZ or only Malaysia. That way things slow down a bit and it you will save a ton on airfare.

me too, I prefer to understand their culture and livesytle slowly. if you only have 8 weeks holiday, I would suggest to visit one country only...

I could extend my stay and I would personally like to stay longer in Australia, maybe a month but im worried about the expense.

Is Australia an expensive place to travel round and to, well, live, food and drinks etc?

Hey Carwyn,

Australia can be somewhat expensive, it is more expensive than Malaysia, but less expensive than the U.S. A month in australia is still a relatively short amount of time, but it's a lot better than two weeks.

I would also worry about jetlag because of the long flights with such short stopovers. You might be spending a lot of that time sleeping and/or not being able to sleep in the night.

7 - 8 weeks is plenty of time! I always say you can see a lot of a city in 3 - 4 days. All the touristy stuff and more. OK, you're going to miss a few things but the majority, you can cover.

My RTW last year was,
MANCHESTER - DELHI - HONGKONG - TOKYO - CAIRNS - SYDNEY - AUCKLAND - LOS ANGELES - LAS VEGAS - SAN FRANCISCO - MANCHESTER.

I did this in 4 1/2 weeks! Lots of flying and a hell of a lot of experiences.

Jet-Lag - depends on what kind of person you are as to whether it affects you. I think a lot of it is in 'peoples heads'. After a 12hr flight, they 'think' they should be tired so go to bed and then their whole bodyclock is messed up. Set your watch to the 'new' timezone as soon as you board the plane. This tricks your mind and works everytime.

Have a great trip!

Hey Ronny,

More power to you for being able to do all of that travelling in only 4 1/2 weeks! I myself would never want to be moving that fast. I guess in the end its all a matter of personal preference.
