Create a poll / survey

Travel Forums System Talk Create a poll / survey

Hello All,

The idea is that when TPers start a new thread they are given the option to create the thread as a poll or survey in which fellow TPers cannot reply but simply cast their vote and the results are displayed. Such polls could be: favorite country, RTW ticket or buy as you go, travel solo or with company, boxers or breifs, dark or milk chocolate - all of the great debates presented neatly for our viewing pleasure. So wadda'ya think? Any feasible way of doing this?

Maybe not give everyone the option of starting their own poll (that could be nightmarish - duplicates and so on) but have the mods create and post them as a sticky so we can still vote on our favorite of whatever that poll may be about.

This is a good suggestion which I am looking forward to. But should it be more sophisticated than what i saw on the other websites - they tend to carry out many polls and show the results of each poll and nothing else after that -> no analysis or open to discussion would be held upon that topic.

Some aspects such as duplication of votes; many would utilize this to benefit their promotional net-services and more. The purpose of why we should have this pool would be the foremost or else this would add up the workloads of people who are administrating and moderating this site. (plus the massive storage for the database...)

Sorry for my straight-forward statements but seeing a new feature: 'TP Stats'has just begun recently and I believe that the back-end crew must surely have suffered a lot upon this feature's completion. (Thanks!)

Another new feature is always delightful

If there was a poll for putting in polls I would voye "Yes!"

Interesting and we've thought of it. If I have to give it a ranking in terms of priority (Pete and me just started assigning priorities to our massive TO DO list) however, I'd say low... which doesn't bode well for it happening in the next year or so. There's at least 10 other features which are just much cooler (and not already done on a lot of sites) that we'd like to do first :)

That said, if any coldfusion gurus out there want to try their hand at this and the code is solid, we could probably integrate it earlier

Sorry, I didn't mean it that harsh at all :) I just thought I'd be honest on it so that no one sits around expecting it... The forum is scheduled for some changes and updates next year but we're just so darn busy!!!

Hey Sam,

I was not at all bothered by your reply, and I completely understand. I was just giving you a hard time.;)
